Tonneau Cover seem to be all the rage these days, especially out here in Southern California. A lot of guys buy them because they make their truck to look better, not because they really need. Of course, I like the way they do my truck look too, but I like tonneau covers mainly because they keep people from stealing my stuff by protecting my possessions from the elements.
I would like the roll-up tonneau covers. They are easy to install and open the bed of the truck completely at odds with the Clamshells hard that tend to offer a more restricted access. There are different types of roll-up tonneau cover: there are the types of vinyl fabric and the hinged, hard that bring on a reel. On my truck last I had the genesis of Lund gasket and Peel tonneau. Was on the side of Velcro and could bring back like a sheet of heavy vinyl.
Lately, I noticed some trucks that use folding type covers that seem more substantial then the rollup type. So I thought I would make a small comparison shopping. My main criteria was a lightweight but sturdy tonneau which gives the easy access and full access to my bed truck. I did a search online for both types of coverings trucks and read descriptions as well as the customer reviews. One thing I noticed is that there seems to be a smaller selection of folding tonneau cover then roll up tonneaus. Roll the cover pages were made by manufacturers like Extang, Truxedo and Lund with price ranges from $ 200-400.
Type covers folding bed truck were more expensive with price ranges from $ 500-800. One of the brands that caught my attention was BAK, make the folding Bakflip tonneau cover and was for the low price spectrum. It comes in four collapsible sections that can be locked at various positions, including one which protects the rear window, when you have dropped the goods. You can fold completely or in sections.
After some research a reading product description, reduced down to Bakflip tonneau cover and folding tonneau bring Truxedo Truxport. Both have innovative features and can be blocked for security. In the end, I went with the Bakflip although was almost twice the price. I wanted to really a tonneau that was strong enough to stand on and that locked securely. And I really like the fact that you can open into sections and even lock it in different configurations. Very cool.
