Tonneau cover vs traditional Truck Covers

Sometimes more generically as a truck bed cover, these covers truck bed cover on a level with the bed of the truck itself (as opposed to more traditional covers trucks, that are level with the top of the cab).  Tonneau cover has a variety of uses and, as such, are becoming increasingly popular.

Protection from the elements

Perhaps the most obvious use of a tonneau cover (or any coverage of trucks for that matter) is protection from the elements.  Rain or shine can ruin the elements in your truck bed, or for that matter, ruining the paint in the interior of your truck bed.  Your truck bed can serve as a mobile storage unit and useful. There is no point in letting of snow, rain, sunlight diminish the usefulness of your truck.

Protection from thieves

Another useful aspect is their protection from thieves.  A tonneau cover retractable rolls like garage doors and aluminium are generally made of 100% or industrial grade ABS plastic.  Here the only drawback is that you lose some storage space because of jar retracts the cover, although very safe when fully rolled out and when the door is locked.

Alternatively, some hinged tonneau cover are made of AVS, providing extra protection thanks to the resistance of the material.  So while all of these covers provide a certain level of security (to hide whatever you have in your truck bed), a hard tonneau cover provides additional security for an external hard drive.

Save Gas

One of the less obvious benefits of tonneau cover is the gas mileage that provide added. By reducing the amount of dragging from wind resistance, give a more efficient aerodynamics, wind-which allows air to flow over the bed of the truck and don't get trapped inside your truck. Which means better fuel economy. This is particularly useful when gas prices are rising.
